  • Choose 60-level if you have normal hearing and want high-end protection with standard enhancement. Choose 90-level if you have any degree of hearing loss, as these can be custom-programmed to your audiogram. The 90-level also features advanced wind-noise reduction and ClearComm™ technology for better voice clarity.

  • A Single Pursuit device is optimized for one specific environment (e.g., just Waterfowl). A Multi-Pursuit device allows you to toggle between different environments (e.g., Waterfowl, Turkey, and Range) within the same set of devices.

  • The Multi-Pursuit devices have the capacity for 6 of our STO programs, while the single pursuit devices are dedicated to only one program.

  • The NRR for AlphaShields is 20-21 dB, depending on the specific ear tip (silicone or foam) used and the quality of the fit.

  • CustomShields typically provide an NRR of 22-25 dB. Because they are molded exactly to your ear canal, they offer the most consistent and highest level of protection.

  • No. TETRA technology is specifically designed by audiologists who hunt. Our Specialized Target Optimization (STO) ensures that your calling sounds natural and is not "clipped" or distorted like standard electronic muffs.

  • AmpPods are primarily designed for maximum concealment and enhancement in the woods (like Turkey or Deer hunting). For high-volume shooting like Waterfowl or the Range, we recommend the Shield Series for better occlusion and protection.

  • The tech is the same, but the fit differs. AlphaShields are universal-fit (using tips), while CustomShields require an ear impression for a perfect, medical-grade fit. CustomShields are generally more comfortable for all-day wear.

  • Each STO program targets specific frequencies. For example, the Waterfowl program highlights the frequencies of ducks and geese while suppressing boat motors, while the Turkey program highlights the high-frequency "spit and drum."

  • The main differences are Fit (Universal vs. Custom) and Technology Level (60 vs. 90). You can compare all models and pursuits here.

  • Multi-Pursuit devices offer versatility. With the touch of a button, you can change the programming to match the game you are hunting that day, making one pair of devices useful for all seasons.

  • We do not include a lanyard because they often create "cord noise" that interferes with the microphones. However, we offer secure storage cases to keep them safe when not in use.

  • We offer an upgrade program. You can send back your universal devices and, for the price difference plus a custom lab fee, we can convert your technology into a custom-molded shell.

  • Most products just "turn down" loud noise. TETRA uses patent-pending technology to protect your ears while enhancing the specific sounds you need to hear for a successful hunt, based on your specific hearing profile.

  • You can, but it is not recommended. Turkey AmpPods are tuned for lower-volume environments. For the repeated, high-decibel reports of duck hunting, the Waterfowl Shield series is a safer choice for your hearing.

  • Our 90-level technology includes Advanced Wind Noise Management, which identifies and suppresses wind turbulence across the microphones while keeping the sounds of the hunt clear.

  • No, they are water-resistant. They can handle sweat and light rain, but they should never be submerged. If they get wet, remove the batteries and let them dry completely in a hearing aid dryer or with the battery door open.

  • Yes, provided you have a proper seal. For indoor ranges, which have much higher sound pressure levels, some users choose to "double up" with muffs over their AlphaShields for maximum safety.

  • Yes. AlphaShields are designed to provide impulse protection for all common hunting firearms, including high-caliber rifles.

  • Yes, they will protect your hearing. However, the Waterfowl optimization may not highlight the specific frequencies of a turkey or deer as effectively as the pursuit-specific programming would.

  • Most TETRA devices use Size 10 (Yellow tab) or Size 312 (Brown tab) zinc-air batteries, depending on the specific model.
